Lawrence, Kansas songwriter Andrew Morgan recently released his instrumental debut as LYON. The self-titled effort doubles as a travelogue through Morgan's time living in Lyon, France. The project is a mixed media collaboration with French author Pierre Ducrozet, who wrote a poetic accompaniment for each of the album's 17 tracks. In addition to Ducrozet's writing, visitors to the LYON blog can view pictures from Morgan's journey as well as detailed notes behind his inspiration for each track. Fans of the instrumental passages on Morgan's releases under his own name will find a lot to like about this. It is also worth mentioning that one of Morgan's albums is now available on vinyl for the first time. A vinyl edition of 2008's Please Kid, Remember is now available from Spain's Pretty Olivia Records in limited quantities. Morgan is currently putting the finishing touches on Nocturama, a digital EP that pairs new material from both his solo persona and LYON. Look for that on June 20th in honor of the summer solstice.
