Crooked Fingers' Red Devil Dawn Comes to Vinyl

This may be controversial with Archers Of Loaf fans, but I am tempted to argue that Red Devil Dawn is Eric Bachmann's crowning achievement. Songs such as "Carrion Doves" are among the very best songs Bachmann has written. Released in 2003, Red Devil Dawn was the third release under Bachmann's Crooked Fingers moniker. Red Devil Dawn was never released on vinyl, but on June 29th, that will change thanks to Merge Records. This release features new artwork and also comes with a bonus download of demo recordings. In addition to the standard black pressing, a limited edition pressing on red vinyl is also available directly from Merge.

Bachmann is also preparing to release a follow-up to 2016's self-titled effort that was issued under his own name. The album features appearances from Bachmann's Archers Of Loaf bandmate Eric Johnson in addition to Avery Leigh Draut and Liz Durrett. No word on a title or release date yet, but Merge will handle the release duties once again. I should also mention that there is an excellent version of "Sleep All Summer" on the new Neko Case album, Hell-On. Case and Bachmann duet on the track, which first appeared on Crooked Fingers' 2005 release, Dignity and Shame.
